irst time I used this today (useful to share the Fonera connection in my laptop with friends) and I have some suggestions:
ReplyDelete1- Add a checkbox to view the password in the input boxes in the configuration menu (rather than a balloon tooltip)
2- Save "router" configuration (currently it must be reconfigured everytime I use the app)... Maybe saving multiple setups could be useful?
3- Move the configure screen to a tab (rather than a window
4- Set max number of "clients" you allow to connect to your PC (and maybe whitelist/blacklist MACs... limit connections to only whitelisted MACs is useful)
5- The "R" in the taskbar is automatically hidden (along with other apps in my system). When I however press the "R" the list of the other hidden icons doesn't automatically disappear (unlike it happen when you press the battery, volume and others) and will appear over the VWRouter menu for some seconds

ReplyDeleteHello, let me add, if you can code a way to throttle the shared bandwidth that wouls be extremely useful. I want to be able to share my connection but i don't want whoever is using it hog the whole bandwidth. I would actually pay for something like that. I volunteer to beta test if you can try something like that
ReplyDeleteI will definitely try that.. as i have to do this work out of my other works it may be late .. even i was thinking of doing the things you have suggested lie blacklisting mac and white listing mac. Will let you know for sure once i do that..

ReplyDelete@VibrantLife : Windows will not allow me to do so .. but after reading a lot about it if you wanted it for security i read that there is no extra security just that it doesn't show it doesn't mean that it has more security .. i read that people generally think that hiding ssid is a level of security..but it is not.. any way i will further look into it and will let you know definitely if i find a solution

ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Effective tool. It´s working fine with my Windows in portuguese, with version 2.0.1.5. I can share my laptop´s 3G internet connection with both my Kindle and desktop. Thanx a lot. Only one issue: the 'Clients Connected' tab doesn't show any clients connected, neither Kindle nor desktop. I refreshed several times with no use. Best regards.
ReplyDelete@Dival : Thank you for using my tool .. there are issues in computers other than English , i first made the basic features working ... And i am trying to solve those issues .. I have to make out time , out of my office work so its getting very difficult to reproduce and fix it .. I am working hard.. I am planning to start coding of version 3 with these fixes .. but it will take time..

ReplyDeleteRegarding my last message, about clients´ invisibility in "Clients Connected" tab: I´m using Avast 6.0.1289 "Internet Security" (full version). I´m adding this info because I have to deactivate Avast in order to use the virtual wi-fi router. Activated, Avast allow to establish the hotspot and others devices to connect, but not to tranfer data via virtual wi-fi router. Thanks.
ReplyDelete@Dival : That issue might be due to firewall .. so in my next major version i will add an entry in firewall to avoid this..please go to firewall advanced security and add this program as exception in inbound and outbound rules .. i think it will work for you..
ReplyDeletePerhaps a number of people would like to see a portable version. Connectify does has but asks for a password when used in organizational settings. Unsure if there is a way around this.

ReplyDeleteFriends I have a little problem I would like to help me, I'm connecting to a 3G moden in a laptop hp movistar, nose which is the connection that I share the 3G connection if movistar or wireless network, in any case enable the shared 3G connection below is a tab that says home networking and connections are the following-Select a private network connection, local area connection, network connection inalambricay there that left the default even though I select the connection test wireless then I get a message that you can not save the username and password that I create a session for each device to be connected in order to not pay atenncion accept myself and I'm going to virtual wifi router and selected the 3G connection movistar then Setup, and then press start and I get a message where is the icon that says "enable the wifi adapter" and check the status of wireless device is enabled
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a memory leak.
ReplyDeleteAfter connecting a device, when I click on "refresh," the memory usage starts increasing. There may be other leaks too, because the program starts out at around 25MB usage and grows to 60+MB after some time.
I think the memory usage can be greatly reduced because the program doesn't really need to do anything once it has started the hotspot. In fact, you can safely exit the program after you've started and configured the hotspot, and start it again if you want to change the password, etc.
In fact, I think a couple of batch files should suffice for the job. :)
After trying Connectify and Virtual Router with no luck, I got this working nicely. I just have a question about launching it after a reboot, Is there any way to start it automatically after a reboot or change of users without interaction from the users? I have it in my startup folder but it still requires the start button. Is their any command line options to start auto? It looks and works great so thank you.

Is that possible?

ReplyDeleteI was hoping it would work as it really boosts the signal in my room which is normally not very good due to the router being in my parents bedroom.
I think i'd have to enter the IP manually when configuring it on the PS3 instead of 'Auto' but I dont know what to put in for the values.

ReplyDeleteAmazing tool.. Able to connect my Android and another laptop when at home. But have not been able to connect my Android at office. I keep getting an error message "Failed to Start :(". At office I've connected my laptop via a LAN cable. Not sure if any further information is required.
